The “beads,” which are the essence of a Buddhist rosary, are carefully selected from natural stones and woods that have fascinated people since ancient times. We quietly listen to the “quality” and “individuality” of these unique materials, and infuse life into each rosary by combining traditional techniques with the delicate sensibilities and attentiveness unique to female artisans.
People do not typically acquire many rosaries in a lifetime. Because it is a talisman meant to accompany one throughout life, we use only the highest quality beads available for their key components. Every careful touch, from creating a soft feel as beads meet to polishing the interiors of the threaded holes smoothly, reflects meticulous craftsmanship. It is in these unseen details that our pride resides.
Consistent tailoring

Most Kyoto prayer beads are made through a “division of labor” system, where specialized craftsmen each handle threading the beads, weaving the core, and attaching the tassels. However, at our store, almost all of these processes are carried out start to finish by a single bead craftsman, Shusui.
We think about the owner of the beads, whom we’ve never met, imagining their gender, age, and the situations in which they might use these beads. We carefully select the beads and spin the thread, putting into each set of beads a story of prayer wishing for the owner’s happiness, and deliver them with that intention.
